Low Intensity Laser Therapy is the use of luminous and laser diodes, applied directly to the skin, initiating a series of physiological responses resulting in the restoration of normal cell structure and function. The primary focus of Laser Therapy is not to treat the symptoms but rather to treat the underlying condition or pathology in order to promote healing and ultimately reduce the need for medications. It is often referred to as Cold Laser because the laser does not heat the tissue. If you suffer from soft tissue damage (tendonitis, muscle/ligament tear), repetitive stress injuries, arthritis, back pain, or have a wound you are a candidate for Laser Therapy.
Low Intensity Laser Therapy has shown much promise and continues to be closely studied. It has become a popular alternative to invasive procedures and a valuable aid in the healing process. The beauty of this therapy is it is non-invasive, and pain-free. Despite the lack of any known side effects to-date, this form of therapy is not advised to be used on pregnant women, over cancerous lesions, over the thyroid or the eyes.
Cold Laser Therapy is used to treat a variety of Nerve, Muscle, and Joint Conditions such as:
Cold Laser Therapy works at the cellular level by stimulating the mitochondria of the cell and producing ATP which helps to accelerate tissue repair. An added benefit is that it increases the production of Nitric Oxide promoting the dilation of the veins (vasodilation) which decreases inflammation, making it ideal for inflammatory conditions. Laser therapy is not a one and done form of therapy. Some may experience immediate results while for others it may take multiple treatments over a period of weeks to see and/or feel any improvements. The Massage Therapist will determine during your health history to see if you are a good candidate for Laser Therapy.
